The Old Inn, Bandipur
A restored Newar townhouse on Bandipur's car-free main street, in two old wings with original wooden doorways, red brick, low corridors and a roof garden with Annapurna views on clear days. The best place to sleep in Bandipur.
The Old Inn occupies two traditional Newar houses on Bandipur's main bazaar, carefully restored to keep the carved wooden doorways, red brick walls and low ceilings of the originals. Corridors twist between wings and staircases, decorated with antiques and local art. Rooms are spread across three floors, vary in size and style, and have en-suite bathrooms.
Meals are a mix of Nepali and continental food, served either in a dining room that opens onto the bazaar, where you can watch the street, or on a quieter terrace at the back. The roof garden faces north to the mountains. It is ideal for one or two nights on the road between Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Around the stay
Bandipur
Bandipur is a car-free Newar bazaar on a ridge at about 1,030 m, 8 km above Dumre on the Kathmandu–Pokhara highway. Founded by Bhaktapur traders as a stop on the India–Tibet route, it lost its trade when the Prithvi Highway bypassed it in the 1970s. Today it is the best overnight break between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
